Daihatsu

The original company which would become Daihatsu was formed in 1907, manufacturing combustion engines. It wasn’t until 1919 that the first Daihatsu motor vehicle was produced, being a truck. Between 1930 and 1960, the company produced several vehicles, some of which were three wheeled midget that you would probably recognise from the movies.

Daihatsu made history in 1965, by becoming the first Japanese motor manufacturer to exports vehicles to the UK . Model slowly began to roll into the UK from this manufacturer, with the 1980’s being a busy decade for new model introductions and model changes and at the end of 1985 they produced their 10 millionth unit!

The growth of this company throughout the 1990’s continued to go from strength to strength in both the car and van markets. Insurance groups aren’t bad either; a one litre Cuore is just a group 3.
