For many years no self respecting person would be seen in or near a Skoda, let along buy one.

in 1991 Skoda was acquired by VAG and they have undergone a serious image
change. What most people don’t know is that Skoda’s history did not begin
with a reputation for being unfashionable. Skoda’s roots can be traced back
to 1895, and by the 1930’s they were making cars for high ranking
businessmen and royalty. Now they have reinvented the Superb, a model from
1934, hoping to break back into the Luxury Car market. The new Superb offers
all the features you would expect from a modern luxury car: heated seats,
satellite navigation, great audio, and its beautifully styled. They also offer
two other more modest models, the Fabia and Octavia, which with the help of a
bit of VW engineering are reliable and good looking.
